Every field is optional. Your recommendation updates as you choose.

Your project

Choose the closest material.

For stacked pieces, use the total thickness.

Choose the shape of your project.

We’ll keep this in mind when explaining your match.

Check your saw manual if you’re unsure. Blade length must also match.

Recommendations follow Bear Woods’ blade selection guidance. Material and fitting take priority; Modified Geometry is our usual choice for wood.

A little blade know-how

What does Modified Geometry mean?

MGT combines skip and reverse tooth features. It is a versatile starting choice for many wood projects, with efficient chip removal and a clean finish.

Does the blade category choose my blade size?

No. The category describes the blade family or fitting. The size you choose still depends on material, thickness, detail and your saw. Use the selection chart on the result.

Do I have to answer everything?

No. Leave any field blank, change your choices at any time, or clear everything to return to our usual MGT starting recommendation. If your answers conflict, we show the closest category with a clear explanation of the tradeoff.

What does closest blade match mean?

It means no single choice is confirmed to meet every answer. We show the closest blade category and explain the compromise, such as turning the work instead of using a spiral blade, or needing a compatible fitting for metal blades. Review that note before buying. Contacting us is optional.

What about very thin wood or veneer?

MGT remains our usual starting choice. The chart’s optimal MGT ranges begin around 1/4 inch, so very thin stock needs careful size selection and a test on scrap. An optimal range is guidance, not a promise that every thinner project needs another category.

Can I cut without turning the work?

Spiral blades cut in all directions when the material, thickness and fitting suit the blade. If those requirements conflict, we show the closest category and explain when you must rotate the work instead. A material match does not guarantee a fitting match.
