Excellent plans. There arenât any instructions so thes probably isnât a good project for a beginner. I counted over 300 individual parts, most of which have to be hand crafted. I think I used nearly every tool in my well equipped shop and I designed, made and used many jigs. Itâs a great project for testing and improving your skills without paying a fortune for materials.

very cool truck

Patterns are very good. Only complaint is their are no measurements to show where items go on the chassis. Also it has you build a center strut for the dump bed but show nowhere to put it or no mounting bracket. Overall I love to build these but all plans I have bought so far could use more diagrams showing where and measurements

GREAT PROJECT

This dump truck has a very detailed chassis and drive line which none of the others have. I have saved small pieces of wood by thickness and the first three pages of plans got every piece of wood out of them. I build all mine with scrapy wood given to by friends, old pallets, doors, so they have some uniqueness to them as all the wood is not perfect. I am still in the chassis portion of this truck but love it

Each Toys and Joys Pattern is a full sized blueprint style pattern, complete with scale drawings and measurements of each part. You can also reference the tab "Recommended Parts" for some popular items required by the pattern that you can buy (or make).

Here's some tools we suggest that will help you to work with most of the Toys and Joys patterns.

Band Saw or other saw to cut the body pieces.
Drill Press
Power Sander: Disc Sander / Belt Sander Combination)
Table Saw
Router
Spindle Sander (Not required but can be useful)
Small clamps (Rubber Bands can be used in some cases)
Scroll Saw (Nice to have, but not required)
Lathe (Only required for a 3 models) (Locomotives, & Ready Mix Truck)
Some hand tools can be useful.

Plus of course some Glue - we recommend our Titebond Glue
