I was looking for a quality clock insert for the cabinet under our TV, and Bear Woods had the best selection I could find. Although the insert I bought is of very good quality, with a brass bezel and glass crystal, I wish Bear Woods had an even larger selection of inserts featuring high-quality materials and designs. My only recommendation for improving my insert would be to make the hour and minute hands a bit wider so that they can be more easily seen from a distance and distinguished from the second hand.

I bought a green and black marble mantle clock that inexplicably came with the cheapest, all plastic "clock" iv'e ever seen.
Seriously, it looked like it fell off a 1980's robot toy.
Ordered this brass n' glass unit from Bear Woods and the difference is night and day. It was a perfect fit and looks right at home.
Honestly, for the price i wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised.

I was very pleased with my purchase. Since I put this in an antique clock, I would have preferred an antique brass finish. It would be nice if that option were offered. Aside from that preference, I am very satisfied. The shipping was prompt.

Noticeable hhigh quality movement & assembly in contrast to original assembly it replaced.
Easy to modify for tighter fit with a couple of wraps of electrician's rubber slicing tape under the white rubber ring included with clock.

Tips

Install a FRESH Duracell or Energizer Battery (But not a rechargeable type). In our experience, these are the only batteries that are reliable for clock mechanisms. If that doesn't work, also try a battery from a separate pack - this seems to help on many occasions too.

Our soft gasket mounting system allows you some flexibility about the size of the actual mounting hole. You can adapt these new inserts to a 1/8 inch larger hole size by removing the soft rubber gasket, and wrapping the back of the insert with plumbers Teflon tape or electrical tape to “build up” the back of these insert clocks. Then re install the soft rubber gasket to adapt to fit a larger mounting hole.
