It was a pleasure doing business with Bear Woods for a clock insert. The description on the website was very clear; one could select from many options; the price and shipping charge were reasonable; and check-out was easy. The confirmation email was informative as to tracking, etc. The clock insert arrived in good time and was extremely well packaged. I appreciated the written thank on the invoice and response to my email that the clock had arrived as I like doing business with "people" rather than an impersonal business. By the way, the clock works great.

I've order now several of this particular model; never disappointed and clearly, the BEST material used vs. the chain stores that use a lot of plastic vs. REAL metal and glass. Only little issue this time was that the negative contact, (battery compartment), didn't push in on the battery enough and the battery popped out too easily. Prying the contact out a wee bit to make the fit tighter was an easy fix.

This clock insert is very nice, and of high quality. The sweep second hand moves smoothly and not in 1-second jumps like most do. The one issue is that the movement is marked "China." I have been reassured that the parts inside are Japanese, it's assembled in China, and Bear Woods will honor the full 3-year warranty.

Really nice clock insert exactly as described. Had a problem with the website so phoned directly to place the order and the lady on the line was super helpful, cheerful and knew what she was talking about. You canÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t get better customer service than that! Very quick delivery with UPS.

I really like the clock insert I purchased. It is beautiful and keeps time accurately. I used it to resurrect a lovely wooden clock that my brother crafted 30+ years ago, but the wired mechanism had quit. So I removed the old and replaced with a battery operated unit. Thank you!!

Nice quality insert at a good price. Get your dimensions right and this insert will fit as expected. All my effort was spent adapting my old, custom clock to fit this insert. Many vendors don't carry these bigger inserts. Thank you Bear for doing so.

Might sound redundant re: the reviews of products purchased, but NEVER disappointed!
Best clock inserts around that though inexpensive, are NEVER "cheap". This is the ONLY vendor I'll keep using!

The clock insert is very good quality and has a very hard to find solid brass bezel. The fit was good but it could have been slightly tighter. I used an 80mm hole for the 3 1/8 inch insert as instructed but it was slightly loose.

Tips

Install a FRESH Duracell or Energizer Battery (But not a rechargeable type). In our experience, these are the only batteries that are reliable for clock mechanisms. If that doesn't work, also try a battery from a separate pack - this seems to help on many occasions too.

Our soft gasket mounting system allows you some flexibility about the size of the actual mounting hole. You can adapt these new inserts to a 1/8 inch larger hole size by removing the soft rubber gasket, and wrapping the back of the insert with plumbers Teflon tape or electrical tape to “build up” the back of these insert clocks. Then re install the soft rubber gasket to adapt to fit a larger mounting hole.
