Our clock hands are made in the USA of high quality steel to fit any of our Standard Mini, Pendulum and Westminster clock movements.

The size listed below represents the length of the minute hand - measuring from the center of the hole where the hand mounts to the shaft, to the tip of the clock hand.

Each set of clock hands contains an hour hand and a minute hand. All second hands are sold separately.
Choose Black or Brass Finished Clock Hands.

The diameter of the hole in the hour hand (and slotted hole in the minute hand) is 5 mm to fit a standard American I-Shaft design.
We stock a large selection of clock hands in various sizes and designs. Clock hands are available in brass and black finish.

PRO TIP: A general rule of thumb in choosing the right size clock hands is to choose a set of hands where the minute hand is roughly 1/2 the diameter of the ring created by the numbers on the clock face. For example if the diameter of an imaginary circle to the bottom of the numbers on your clock face is 4-1/4 inches long than choose a set of clock hands with a minute hand about 2-1/8 inch long.

What is the difference between High Torque and Standard Quartz Clock movements?

High Torque Clock Motors are more powerful - made specifically to handle the extra weight of longer clock hands up to 18" in length. This means you can make a clock with a clock face/dial that is 42" wide or even greater! What are the different types of clock movements?

1) USA Made Step Style High Torque Movements These movements will make a very slight stepping sound & motion, but do not drive a second hand.
2) Continuous Sweep Clock Movements drive the longer hands and operate silently + will drive a second hand (see below in red or black, 10 inches long).
3) High Torque Pendulum Movements. With this option you can drive the longer hands as well as a pendulum up to 25" long.
4) High Power Chiming Clock Movements
Tips: AA Battery and C-Cell Options - The C-Cell Simply Lasts Longer. Always use fresh Duracell or Energizer batteries.
How do I choose the right size clock motor & hands?

2)The size of hands is based on the length of the minute hand from the mounting hole to the end of the minute hand. (Figures 3 & 4 above) Most can be slightly trimmed if need be, and they are all USA made of aluminum. Our customers also spray paint them.

3) Our clock motors are sized by the thickness of the dial the movements can go through. EG Q-64 below will go through up to 5/8" thick material. If your material is too thick, consider removing some to in-set the clock. Or if your clock face material is too thin, consider adding some material behind the face so the hands will sit closer to your clock face.

Listed price for motors includes the mounting hardware for your clock. (Washers, Nuts, Bolts and Brass End Caps.) Note: Built in hangers as found on standard clock movements are not recommended due to the weight of the clocks you will build. We recommend checking out our selection of Picture Hanging Hardware
