Organize Your Kitchen With These Trends: Creative Ways to Use Lazy Susans

AUGUST 24, 2017

how to make lazy susan turntables

The kitchen is one of the most common places where people find clutter in their homes. After all, your kitchen is one of the most-used rooms in your house, as you are constantly using it to prepare meals for your family and as a central area to hang out. Between kitchen gadgets, staple pantry items and general things that accumulate, your kitchen can get quite messy very quickly. Here are a few tricks to help organize your kitchen.

Get Organized with Lazy Susans

Lazy Susans are no longer just for serving up your favorite dishes family-style. DIY crafters and woodworkers are making Lazy Susan Turntables in a variety of sizes and with a variety of materials. You can use these great tools in a variety of ways to help keep your kitchen organized. Stick one in your pantry under your spice rack. This way, you’ll be able to find what you are looking for without having to go through every single jar. If you have a cabinet that is especially deep, you can save yourself the trouble of having to take everything out to reach the items at the back. The rotating body of the Lazy Susan brings everything you need right to the front for easy access. On your countertops, use a Lazy Susan with sections and dividers. The various sections spin into place on the turntable bearing, making it easy to stow your keys, wallet and other items that often clutter up your work space. You can use a separate slot for each member of your family.

Building a Lazy Susan

Constructing a Lazy Susan is an easy DIY project that just about anyone can complete. You simply install our Lazy Susan bearings between the base and turntable plate, lubricate them with oil or grease, and you’re set! Of course, you can enhance your Lazy Susan by adding a coat of paint or veneer, but the basic assembly is simple enough. Many of our customers add our Gallery Rail Spindles to the project, for a one or two-inch border around the circumference; you will pre-drill some holes, mount the spindles and attach an upper rail for a finished look and strength. You can view a more detailed explanation of the process on our website.

When you are ready to get started building your new Lazy Susan, Bear Woods is your source for all of the parts you’ll need.
